Spotlight Urgent Care and Stroke’....
Healthwatch Walsall’s ‘Spotlight On’ briefings are an opportunity to hear from Walsall health and social care providers about topics that the public have highlighted to us as issues they are concerned about.
We have invited those providers to come and deliver briefings at our public meetings so that you the public have the opportunity to listen and then questions of them about any issues you are concerned about regarding the service in general or about specific parts in their presentations.
At our third ‘Spotlight On’ meeting we heard from Sally Roberts – Chief Nurse, Director of Quality on Hospital Stroke Services and Paul Tulley – Director of Commissioning on Urgent Care Services, both from Walsall CCG.
This was an opportunity for the public to hear from Walsall CCG about its plans for Urgent Care in the city centre and proposals to move hyper-acute and acute stroke services to Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital.
People were concerned about the capacity of the Urgent Care Centre at the Manor Hospital site believing it would not be able to cope with the additional demand of the town centre unit closes, as well as problems parking. Comments were made that it is difficult to find at the Manor with signage being very poor.
People were concerned about the implications for traveling to Wolverhampton and thought the Manor ought to offer the same services.
